Got it off the what mobile forum from a geez called Omar.
1st part
V. Busy at mo but for those of you who wanted user feedback;
The phone is great but there are two problems.
While the general speed is great improvment over the t68 there is still noticable lag. Its not too bad but when typing SMS it is a pain.
The camera is completely usless. I thought the one on the P800 was bad enough but this is far worse. I've owned, in the past 8 months:
P800
7650
GD87
6100 & cam
T68 & cam
SPV & cam
S55 & cam
GX-10
...and they all had far better image quality than this. Low res mush.
The hissing sound when on a call is present but I can live with it... i think. I'll call the supplier and see what he says.
The UI is very good, the phone itself is beautiful and tiny. Looks much better in the flesh, the ringtones are fantatsic. The old fashioned bell telephone ring sounds great as do the more contempoary music ringtones.
WAP browsing is VERY VERY fast, blindingly so. One of the reasons I want to keep it.
MMS creation is the best of all the phones i've had (and more than thats a few)
Battery life seems to be astounding. It had a tiny amount of charge out of the box, I played with it for an hour solid this morning, sent about 10 sms, one MMS, read the news via GPRS wap, took 5 pictures and sent them via bluetooth and made a 5 minute call. The battery meter hasnt moved an inch.

I've got a bit more time now.
Having had more time to pay with the T610, I retract most of the negative comments above.
The "whining" sound isn't nearly as noticeable outdoors and isn't as bad as the intermittent "radiation" buzzes my Nokia 8910 emits. In fact all my 8 series Nokia's have always done that. It's quiet enough for it to be unnoticeable unless in a silent room. I expect this is why only 50% of people seem to have it; half haven't noticed.
The camera is FAR better outdoors. My bad, I also had it on the low res setting which is appalling. High res (288x352) is fine for MMS and wallpapers. Images look sharp and clear onscreen before you save it (at which point it is resized to make room for the soft key options and the status bar), not so once transferred to my PC or P800.
SMS sped up noticeably when I turned off all the other languages in the T9 options screen and cleaned up my sim messages inbox which was full. It's still no where near Nokia speed but faster than the T68i, Samsung T100 or Sagem MY-X5.
MMS creation is similar to the T68 but simplified. It presents you with an empty frame, with the left soft key labelled as "add." Pressing it brings up a menu with Picture, Text, Sound, Camera picture (IE: Take a pic now), recording (Record sound now) and page.
The max number of frames/slides must be determined by file size as I got as far as 21 empty pages before I got bored!
The Email software is much like that on the T68, simple but functional. Like everything else that relies on GPRS, it is stunningly quick.
The ringtone composer (or DJ as SonyEricsson call it) is very good. Like a cut down version of Ejay or Cubase, you can choose individual patterns of music and lay them down as tracks. Layering them gives the effect of real music. The instruments are Drums, Guitar, Keyboard Piano and Saxophone(!). Its a gimmick but a fun one.
I've only tried one of the 5 or so games. Qbert, its just as you remember it from back in the day; frustrating as hell! Java games take an AGE to load.
My opinion of the phone has improved in all area's with the exception of the screen. Taking it outdoors produced new problems. With the sun shinning brightly (for once) the screen's colours suddenly appeared completely washed out. Its no worse than the T68 though, and the screen is still readable, just not half as pretty.
In optimum lighting conditions the screen is bright and has far more colours than the 7650/P800. the difference is really noticeable when you load up the pre-installed backgrounds. Its not very sharp though but that's a technical limitation.
Once touch access to Camera is very quick, there's also a dedicated shortcut bottom on the right handside. Pressing the joystick right brings up the first item in your "shortcuts" list, in my case this is the default settings of "create new sms".
The built in themes are vibrant and show off the colour depth of the screen, but changing them takes about 20 seconds!
Bluetooth simply does the job, the quick share printed all over the box is a gimmick. Yes the "Send/Via Bluetooth" menu option is in all the right places but it is on most bluetooth phones! I reset my Nokia HDW-2 headset to pair it with my P800 & the T610 but I can't seem to get it working at all with either. It had previously connected fine with the P800, S55 and 8910 all at once. Its probably me not the headset which is at fault though.
It comes with a little mirror attachment for the back, or a black plug if you don't want the mirror. Those worried about finger prints on the black part needn't be, the phone comes complete with a cleaning cloth! Pretty neat!
The silver part of the body is aluminium and COLD!
I'm trying to think of anything else that may possibly matter to anyone thinking of buying it...
That's about it...
I'm off to watch the Simpsons.

As for the 'problems' with the T610, the only one that bothers me is the sound issue. I mean *surely* they must have tried making a call or two before shipping them out! Hopefully it's not too noticeable, or can be fixed easily. Even better, I hope SonyEricsson (or Orange, as they use their own firmware) fix the issue before the UK release.
As for the other things like lag, I don't think these are too much of a problem. I think I read that Ericsson use pretty slow processors in their phones for longer battery life.
I think Nokia uses relatively powerful processors - and combined with a very 'lightweight' menu system gives them a stonking speed!!

I sure hope this ain't the case for the T610. I wanna see some fast and impressive games on it. anybody know if it has a fat processor or not?

Ericsson had lag problems ever since they switched to their 3v platform back in the T28 days...
IT'S BEEN THERE EVER SINCE!
The only phone that has decent typing speed is the P800...but every other phone that uses SE software is just SLOW
It's pathetic that even with their new T610 they couldn't speed it up... I know there's not much lag... but there shouldn't be lag at all!!!
That's one of the main reasons SE is so unpopular here in the Philippines... sending an SMS is a pain!
I think SE SW programmers are a sad bunch. They never seem to get anything right.

Sorry dragon... I'm just griping... Ericsson has always had SW problems... and seriously... aside from bugs and glitches... their menu structure in their phones is so illogical.
I've never owned any other brand but Ericsson. But even I have to admit that the flow of their menus is just plain weird. SMS typing is sooooo slow... I'm thankful for the ARM CPU on my P800... but everything else is just turtle slow... there are a lot of useless things in their menus that are given priority over the basics.
I think they should rethink the flow structure of their menus more. The fact that GSM has succeeded because of SMS means that they should focus on ease of creating, sending/typing & resending in case of message failure.
Ericsson never had any shortcoming in design or engineering... but always in SW.
