> 15.4 mb memory stick???

Is it just my MS Duo or is it everybodys?? My 16mb Duo only has 15.4 mb space on it...and thats after formatting!
When I check storage manager it says 15.4 and its the same when I check information when its docked into my PC!! Are there some hidden files on it that I need to get rid of???
I no ur all prob gonna tell me to buy a bigger memory stick but at the mo me kinda low on funds...n neways why buy a 128 if the 256 and 512 are just around the corner!

internally the P800 has 16MB storage, but 4MB is used for the OS, so if u use the Sony Ericsson Phone Connection Monitor (icon found in the system tray) to check on your internal memory it will only say u have 12MB available internal storage space.

All memory sticks are different because none are made exactly the same. The electronics can differ very slightly between each unit. Like my Hard Drive, is meant to be 82gigs, but is only 76. This happens on all memory items, including my Duo, so its nothing to worry about.

It's because one megabyte is 1024 kilobytes which is 1024 bytes..
the memory stick has about 16000000 bytes...
The same goes for the harddisks and stuff like that.. The problem is that it seems to be generally accepted that the makers of harddisks can say that the harddisks are bigger than they really are.

You'll find that the directories alone SE creates consume a few k's and if you get the USB MS reader from ebuyer.com, you'll see there's an index file in the root directory of the MS consuming several k too, depending on the contents of the MS.
Same thing applies to hard disks... the file system alone will occupy several k of storage, even if the disk is completely empty and just formatted.
Never found these few k's posing a problem though, there's very little you can do with 16MB... (waiting for 128MB

I just purchased a 128 duo and formatted it. I didn't notice it's capacity before I formatted it but now it says it has 123 MB is this right.
