has anyone here actually USED the abiility to read excel spreadsheets in their line of work?? quite a few know about the feature to read excel but no one seems to actually use it on a day by day. any input?? do you use the ability to read excel spreadsheets daily and does it work well? also same with word?? many thanks for any opinions.

yes i put my production planning board on my P800 to see what it looked like.. not too bad but not really useable.. waiting to see when decent excel sw comes out then get it with a new cradle a cable via the company so i can use it for work

thanks for that. when you say not really usable do you mean too slow or too inconvenient? i want a few spreadsheets each 50 rows and about 10 columns. is it quick at viewing/scrolling?? does it retain column headers when you scroll??

rite well my planning board is a huge spreadsheet with a lot of colours on it, freeze panes etc.. just a bit hard to read it to be honest as it didnt port accross to the viewer very well... ie freeze panes didnt work which was the main thing that made it hard to read as when scrolling to the right my machine list dissapeared thus making it pretty unusable as the dsiplay is so small..
it would be excellent to have a fully fledged excel proggy for the p800 because having the abaility to carry my production board and loadings in my pocket would be fantastic..

thanks again. i am ordering my p800 this week hopefully subject to the best deal i can get. but more than anything i want it to read excel spreadsheets. and as you say to be able to edit them as well would be truly 'wunnerful'. i'm not sure if anyone will bring out editable excel software for the p800 - perhaps not a big enough market. i suppose best of all would be if ms decided to support office on the p800 operating system but i really dont know how likely that would be.

I use it frequently, i recieve attatchments with small excell spreadshees. It works very fast and surprisingly well. Of course this is mosly with small attatchments so anything more complex I would not know about.
But let me say that to me it is invaluable.
