This service has been available for ages. What makes you think that firmware upgrades will be available via this anyway?

With my last chat to SE they out right said there would be no home firmware upgrades, unless anyone knows otherwise.

You can upgrade firmware on certain phones, T68i for example, remotely but I would Not recommend it. You will probably break bluetooth, standby times, etc. And it would void your warranty.

Well I had a PDA, compaq i think. That had a firmware update available on it's website. Used the docking station and a special install program created by them. Everything went beautifully. Even though I doubt they will, I really don't se any reason why they couldn't if they really wanted too.

Well I'm sure they could if they wanted to but they don't want you to do it at all. I'm sure they have their reasons.

Certainly would be nice for us in the U.S. since there are no local service centers and all.

is this software going to be available to everyone? so that one can update for free using official se channels?

-or-

does one pay a fee to update from a third party, kinda like the well known "remote unlock" services lurking around the net..
