I have encountered this twice already, but haven't read it before here.

Does anyone occasionally notice the LCD display suddenly display this weird battery icon with an exclamation point symbol?

It flashes between this image and a picture of the P800 with the power button highlighted with the numbers 10 on a stopwatch..

None of the buttons function and I need to remove the battery completely before it will work again. Power Off doesn't work either

It means hold the power button down for 10 seconds. Not just press the power button.

It's called a system failure. You have to hold the power button for 10 seconds.
The image hints at this.. They could have written it in words though...

some call it the white screen of death on other forums.. i think some programs or applications on your phone might have conflicts with the os (not sure).

Thanks I thought I did hold down power for a while.. may need to test it again next time.. hopefully I don't encounter it too often.

Any idea what triggers it?

So far, for both times, the phone was originally working fine one moment and left in my pocket or on my desk. Next thing I know, I pick it up to use, and encounter this problem.

This started happening only after R2D, I think.

I have only installed File Manager.

I also encountered what looked like a GPF dialog box (like for Windows) when a call was directed to my HCB-30 and then died. The error mentioned Bluetooth connection or something.

Have to check what is the latest firmware for SE here in Singapore.
