Maybe i am just stupid, but i can't figure out what the square with four small squares inside it just above the joystick is for (looks to me like some kind of virtual desktop?)

Has anyone else figured out what it is used for?

Are you sure it's not just the symbol that means you got another profile then 'normal' selected in the phone?

@dw
Yes i have the normal profile selected, and i am not refering to the "profile-squares" (those on the top part of the display?) i am thinking of the the ones just over the joystick, that is the lower part of the display in the middle.

in the section of the manual near the front (page 7 of download manual) "Navigating your phone" there is a picture of that little icon exploding into the icon menu you get when you move the joystick.

Yes you are absolutely right
It does not seem to be used for anything as of now (according to the manual you might think that it would be a minature picture of the desktop there or something...)
Well, thanks for clearing that.

It's acts almost like the commands which change when you select one of the soft keys, ie when "more" is shown, press the softkey underneath it and it will show you..... well.... more, when the "desktop" icon shown on the screen, the joystick acts as a softkey, press the joystick and it shows you the desktop main menu items. SE engineers must have been struggling for ideas to fill the screen.

That is true... I wonder why the upper left is colored with blue if it is just there to symbol that clicking the joystick will bring up a menu.
It would be nice if a software update could enable up to four menus when clicking, depending on which of the squares were marked

that symbol is the symbol of the Icon-menu. When you are in the standby-mode, you need to press the joystick to go to the menu. (the same with the T68i, but there is no icon, you just need to find it out there as new user)
