Hi,

Last night my t68i started displaying "No Access" when my Orange PAYG SIM card was inserted. The signal strength meter flicks between full signal and no signal.

It works fine with my contract Vodafone UK SIM.

I haven't changed anything!

Any ideas?

Cheers.

I get exactly the same symptoms on one of my T68i here in Frankfurt on the prepaid network I use. In fact the german SIM for the prepaid network gives "No Access", also my UK vodafone SIM if I select the same network gives the same as does my Australian SIM card if I select the same network.

I can put any of those SIMs into the other T68i and all work fine.

The 'bad' T68i works with the german prepaid SIM card in UK no problem!

SE haven't got a clue and want me to send them the phone but I can't see the point if they cannot reproduce the problem because they are not in Germany!

I have had this problem on and off for a year but in the last 2 months its permanant. A master reset and software upgrade made no difference either.

Frustration plus!

Yes.its a signal problem.the subscriptions and the prepaids r divided by frequency-band-usage.the last has less broadband or more (depending on how many ppl in the area using it) and a different program platform. This message was posted from a WAP device

I also got the 'No Access' last night. I am on Orange in UK. I called Orange to ask about network problem and there IS a problem in my area. However, the 'No Access' message instead of 'Orange' remains.

The guy I spoke to on the phone at Orange said it is a common problem that they know about with the T68i. He said he would have to replace the handset under warranty.

Apparently, the problem is triggered by a poor signal on the network e.g. due to a transmitter going down and the handset no longer 'sees' the home network. He also said that in theory, if the phone was in a place where there was only Orange coverage, the phone would probably start to work again. But while the phone remains in areas where there is more than one network i.e. Vodaphone, O2, T-Mobile etc, it would fail to recognise the Orange network.

The phone isn't really faulty, but Orange say that replacing it is the only way they know of that will correct the problem.

The phone IS faulty. I've worked out what the problem is.

If you do a network search, you'll be able to find the networks that use GSM 900MHz (Vodafone & O2), but not the networks that use GSM 1800MHz (Orange & T-Mobile) - Try it yourself.

The phone loses the ability to be dual band.....

The phone gives the "No access" message because it can find a network, but you don't have permission to use any of the services on those networks.

Once I'd spotted this, I realised that there must be some sort of loose component (or something) - Whenever it happens to me it's easily fixed by squeezing/lightly bending the phone & hitting it lightly on the floor.

I'm not joking!

Trollied is not joking!!

Been having the No - Access problems for weeks. Am pay as you go on Orange (and they are hopeless too by the way).

Just squeezed, banged, bent and knocked my t68i, turned it off and back on and hey presto back on the network!!!

It works,

Still unsure as to whether it is Orange or the T68i that is crap.

Dont really care though as I'm so p**sed off with it Im going to buy a different phone on Voda at the weekend!
