Hey guys, why is it that whenever I use WAP and disconnecting after awhile my phone hangs when I try to turn the phone off? And I noticed that sometimes I cant receive or send SMS after WAPPING. Is this because of my service provider? Or theres something wrong with my phone?

Upgrade to R1C and the problem will get less frequent...
...whenever you have the problem reboot (unplug the battery)...
...more discussions about the problems are found in other posts on this site.

I hope this is solved when R2 software arrives...

Not only will you loose SMS, you won't be able to make/receive voice calls as well. I have T68(R1B) and what I did to minimize the problem is to set the timeout to 25 seconds and once you're done wapping, disconnect the session. On GSM data, this does not happen. Only on GPRS.

I never had those problems,..neither in R1B or R1C now,..and I use GPRS all the time.

Either I'm lucky, or the gprs-connection is just very good here in DK

JHB: yes, its been discussed before, think it was when we talked about improvements in R1C. The network-part seems to be more stabile in R1C.

I think it's a combination of both. You probably had the T68 Sweden version, I have Malaysia. Your operator's GPRS has been launched, my operator is on trial.

ArnoldC : Yep, it might be a combination of both.

I talked to a guy here in DK, who had problems with WAP/GPRS.
He upgraded the phone to R1C. It solved something, and it works quite well now on his T-68 now.
Some of the other guys in here, have done the same thing,..and it worked for them too.

I have the same problem with my T39 as well. Have recently upgraded the software, but it only helped a bit. Still happens. This has to be some special Ericsson problem.

Since i decreased the connection timeout from 150s to 30s I have almost no problems at all anymore.

The only lousy thing now is that my GPRS coverage at home is very sporadic.

Another thing I've noticed is that I only have this kind of problems when beeing at home and using GPRS. As I mentioned here earlier I am at a Nokia BSC at home and at Ericsson equipment when at work and the Nokia BSCs are supposed to have poor signalling capacity...
...and since I my basestation closest to my home also covers one of Swedens most trafficated highways, there are a lot of signalling due to handovers...

...seems like the Ericsson phones have problems handling the strange signalling from the Nokia BSCs...
...on the other hand, when the Nokia 8310 first came out it didn't work at all with Ericsson equipment, so I guess we're lucky anyway...
