they plastered their logo everywhere on a silver one... wouldn't it have made more sense for them only to use red versions of the t610?
Maybe then it wouldn't be so bad that their logo is everywhere, at least u got a red one!

I don't want to pay over £130 to advertise them. Grr.
Sony Ericsson T610 / Pay monthly : £129.99 / Pay as you talk : £249.99 (from Voda's website)
On the Voda website it says
This phone has been optimised to work with the Vodafone network. Non-Vodafone SIM cards will not work in this phone without being unlocked first which may attract a charge.
Does anyone know if their is anything
actually optimised on the Voda phone? or does optimised just mean Sim locked. Also does anyone know how much voda charges for an unlocked phone?

From a German Vodafone T610 point of view, optimization is a joke!!
Vodafone Live! Online resources don't work properly, they are slow, the branding destroyed menu functionalities... sum it up: Vodafone T610s' sucks the most! (IMHO)

I brought my T610 from Vodaphone yesterday. What vodaphone mean by 'optimised' is that they have changed the software on the phone so that one of the short cut keys on the main menu is for Vodaphone Live and the wap home page is automatically set as Vodaphone Live which cannot be changed! I spoke to SE this morning only to be told the T610 has not even been officially released in the UK (Due Q3), and therfore their is no customer support for the product at the moment! However once is is officially released, SE will be quite happy to upgrade the software which will remove all Vodaphone's crap...

I got mine from Vodafone last week in Sweden and this is what I have found so far.
Operator locked.
Replaced the SE icons with Vodafone-live icons.
put a "live" logo on the left softkey which now accesses the vodafone live homepage.
two of the twelve icons in the menu are direct links to vodafone live.
The button on the right side of the phone is direct link to vodafone live.
If you press the joystick upp when not in a menu you go to..... vodafone live
If you select any menu items like "get more pictures" or "get more themes" etc you just end up at.. well you know..
In the message menu the is an option for "Messenger". I don't know what this is supposed to do.. I'm pretty sure it's not ment to be a shortcut to vodafone live...
And of cource... The ugly logos. The design of the phone is supposed to be ultra clean. It is kind of hard to maintain that look with vodafone logos al over the place. ( tip anyone? I've tried rubbing it out with an eraser and use acetone without any results)
Some Vodafone pictures that can't be erased. (including a big vodafone logo that is the default screensaver)
The original themes have been replaced with
Vodafone
Blue
Deep ocean
Classical
It is beyond me hve the could mess up the phone this way.. All it does is promote major badwill against vodafone...

I tested the phone yesterday in store....
the hissing is apparent, but wasn't terrible.
Also the joystick was a bit funny - you had to press EXACTLY down or the click wouldn't register.
The ringer took AGES to pick up the volume. Hope they make this "increasing ring" thing optional in newer software. It's to protect your ear, but why would you be holding the phone to your head if you weren't making a call!??
(Yes, I know about the increasing ring option, but this was off - switching on just makes it worse)
I thought the Live menu was disgusting. I couldn't make out what anything was. The icons looked like a blurry mash of red, white and black.
Yeearlluurchhaargh
Other than that - sexy phone! I need more time with it though. Still having thoughts about the 3650 - I likes the software, but the phone is a big ugle crazy keypad thingy...

I just had a play with the T610 at Vodafone in Covent Gardens. The staff where actually helpfull (shock horror).
There is a special on where the phone is 100 cheaper on the 200/400 packages.
Now I am not especially charmed by the branding and vodafone live but but 100 squidaroonies cheaper is serious cash.
I might go with it and get a firmware upgrade at some point to trash the vodafone bullshit.
Oh also they have a 2 weeks return policy if there are hissing problems. I did not hissing on the test phone.
Also if you want it unlocked (sim wise) it's an extra £20
Oh and they claim the phone has a built in FM radio. In their catalog too. I guess they got confused by the headset radio.
