Why would they do that? the red LED is to show low batter so it would be pretty stupid if made it stay on all the time.

Yeah but it would be cool if it was on in standby mode or the opposite. When you play with it.

And this feature would be great because then the person could change if he wants or not

How do we know there is only a red led? It could be a dual-colour one like the t68i and the green flashing was removed in a newer firmware revision.

Can any SE employees here confirm or deny the existence of a dual colour or green LED?

Well, doing the LED test from the service menu, you only get the red to show - so i presume that's it folks!
