I've looked on the genie website...it says..
'The Genie pre-pay SIM gives you up to 300 FREE text messages per month.'
Is that to any network, or just genie?
What about wap? Is that 100% free. I.e- Any site, any time?
Is it possible to keep your number?

This is all true. The problem is that the calls are pretty expensive. The customer services are really poor also. Can never get through and when you do costs a fortune and they never sort the problem. This is why I changed.

Genie is not too bad.
MNP is possible, get a PAC number from Orange PP Customer Support and you are half way there.
The WAP calls are free providing you use the Genie 915000 dialup service.
Access to other gateways is charged at normal call rates

I would definitly change to genie.. the problem is that Cellnet has very very very poor signal in my campus, where im living now... and in my school it has "nothing" of signal.. at all!!!

Sadly, you'll have to change your number, or keep swapping the sim cards e.g. Genie for SMS, Orange Just Talk for calls. No service providers allow number portability on pay-as-you-go services.

I'll ask and see.
I called about GPRS on pay as you talk, and the bloke recon's they should be marketing it later this year?
We shall see if it's pants or not..

Genie customer care?? Surely you people cant be talking about the monkeys you get when calling 1702 from the mobile, and being charged at 39p/min for?
I am currently in dispute with Genie over these call charges after they allocated someone else my number and then changed mine without consulting me.
Told then that I will order the bank to recover and funds they take from my account until the matter is resolved. They replied that they can't seem to find me on their records.... Such confidence I have now.
Anyone else have any problems with them?
