Greetings everyone. I have just upgraded my T68i to a P800 and so far am loving it. I need to get the firmware updated but thats not a problem. Anyway I had a few questions that I was hoping someone could answer....

If I have the phone in the docking cradle is it possible to browse the net on it using my PC's Broadband internet connection?

Is it okay to leave the phone in the cradle (charging) on my desk at work or can leaving it in there cause damage to the battery?

Is it possible to configure the device to use dial-up as an option too as well as the GPRS settings. If downloading large files then I assume this is more cost effective than using GPRS. Any info on how to do this? I am on Orange.

Is the best sound format to use Ogg and if so where can I get the player from?

Sorry if these have been asked before but I have done some searches and cant find anything conclusive.

Cheers guys. It really is a nice machine and I hope I can make the most of it.

OF COURSE YOU CAN...IF U HAVE A COMPUTER WITH BLUETOOTH, U CAN EVEN USE IT WITHOUT HE CRADLE.

U CAN LEAVE UR FONE ON WHILE CHARGING...Just dont charge ur phone 24/7

YES U CAN USE DIAL UP ON UR P800, AND U WOULD BE USING UR MINUTES INSTEAD OF UR DATA PLAN. U JUST HAVE TO FIND OUT IF UR PROVIDER ALLOWS THAT TIME OF CONNECTION(DIALUP) ATT DOESNT. U DONT HAVE TO DO ANY EXTRA WORK IF UR PROVIDER ALLOWS IT...JUST GO TO CONTROL PANEL AND CONNECTIONS, AND U WILL FIND OUT HOW TO SET IT UP(VERY EASY)

ENjoy ur new toy!!!

Thats great. But how do I set this up? If I open the net connection when its in the cradle it just uses the standard GPRS. If I try to set up a new Internet connection it only gives me the option of GPRS or Dial-up. How do I get it to go through the PC?

Also when I try and select Dial-up as the prefered option in internet settings it still uses GPRS.

Thanks for the help m8.

If you bought the fone on an Orange contract it'll have the settings pre-installed on the fone, to change between them u just go into Control Panel, click on the Connections tab, then the WAP Accounts tab, then the Preferred tab, and change it to either GPRS Wap or Orange WAP (the latter is the dial-up). Re: cost-efficiency, it'll depend on what tariff ur on and what GPRS bundle ur using

EDIT: just noticed in your pevious post you're changing the Preferred option in the Internet Accounts page, you need to change it in the WAP Accounts page instead

OGG is certainly a good sound format to use because u can use smaller filesizes for the same quality as MP3, thus minimizing space on ur memory stick, but the player is only in beta stage at the moment, and has a few bugs (which no doubt will be ironed out if we give the author time), you can download the OGG Player here and try it yourself.

Welcome to Esato btw, hope this info helps

u dont have to do anything. when u have a live connection on ur computer, and u have installed the SE cd in ur computer...everytime u put ur fone in the cradle(hooked to the PC of course) it will first use the pc connection, if it cant find it, it will automatically look for the bleutooth if there is one, if not, it iwll ask for gprs or dial...depends what is the prefered serveice u selected.

jbendaou - have just tried that myself and when connected to the cradle and my PC's broadband connection, the fone automatically uses my Preferred WAP Account, not the PC's connection

Me too. If my phone is in the cradle and I try to access the web it defaults to the GPRS. Anyone know how to change this so that it uses the PCs net connection?

This thread seems to indicate that it might not be possible on the built-in browser, but is possible using Opera (but i deleted Opera coz i didn't like it!)
