Hi All,

I've been playing with Orange's route finder on its wap page. It works out the current location and plan the route accordingly. Does anybody know the accuracy of this services?

Many thanks.

in cities the accuracy is quite good (~10-30m) since the cells are small, but once you are out in the countryside the cells are bigger and there is less accuracy

Has anyone had the Orange location based services working on a P900?

It worked on my old Panasonic, but all I ever get when I try and 'Find Nearest' on my p900 is 'the service is temporarily unavailable'.

It shouldn't matter what phone you have, the positioning is done in the gsm network. The accuracy is rarely more than 100m even in cities, but the perceived result can sometimes be improved if there is map data available ("unlikely" positions ruled out).

Speaking of which, is there any new software, or any information available which can be integrated into minigps to identify the location of the base station youre connected to, and not just display some meaningless number? Or even better, a program like minigps but with a database of uk base stations and their grid references... That would be easy coding and much more meaningful than minigps currently is. With that, you could enter a grid reference rather than a base id to your events list, and be provided with much more meaningful information about your location. @bowman, how do you feel about tryin that?

MiniGPS has the problem that on UIQ version couldn't import data (S60 version can do it).
So... put manually all the notes for every bts keeps too much time.
Data can be found (in Italy there's a site on bts with numbers, locations and directions) so i think you can find same datas also for other coutry.
