> Non Hissing T610's on Voda UK available 06/06

When I bought my Voda T610 last week, I was told I could bring it in and get it replaced for a new one if their where any problems in the first 2 weeks.
Due to the known hissing issue I took it in today.
The guy who sold me mine said they where expecting non hissing phones on the 6th of June and I could bring mine in then to get it swapped.

This is good news... might help ease people's feelings about the excessive branding. I got mine yesterday, and don't feel the hissing is too much. Still, it'd be nice to NOT have it in my ear.

I'm hoping to purchase an unbranded, uncustomised T610. In order to do this, I assume I'll need to buy a SIM free model. I'm currently a customer of Singlepoint, but I've heard so many bad reports about them, I think I want to change to Vodafone direct. My 12 month contract is up in the middle of June with Singlepoint. Will I have to purchase a SIM free phone, then go to my local Vodafone store and say that I want to begin a new contract with them, and ask them to port my number over from Singlepoint? (I need to keep my old number). I'd rather go with Vodafone direct, but assume a cheaper option will be to purchase a contract phone from CPW or The Link etc. and sign up for a new contract with them, i.e. I expect this to cost approx £130 as opposed to buying a SIM free/unbranded model which will no doubt cost nearer to £300. Basically, I want a phone on Vodafone, but I don't want all the Vodafone gubbins on (or in) the phone. Any advice?

leerichards - You need to get a PAC code from singlepoint. They will probably offer you everything to stay. You then take this to Voda and you get a new contract and they port your number across. A voda model will be branded, sim locked and customised. It will cost you £20 to get it unlocked. Apparently nail varnish removes the branding. It is unknown at the moment how to remove the customisations. You will probably find there are more options available to you by the end of june. Currently you can get it for £30 at Voda if you take certain packages.

Any particular reason you want to stay with Vodafone? By mid June hopefully the T610 will either be out on Orange or be about to be. You can PAC your number across to any network just as easily as from Singlepoint > Vodafone Ltd. Bonus with Orange is that they give you a number to use temporarily with your phone until your number ports across (usually porting takes a week during which time you can still use your existing number on your old phone but without a temp number you wouldn't be able to play with your new phone properly all that week!). Also since the T610 is HSCSD compatible you will be able to sign up to the HSD tariff which has got to be one of the best tariffs available on any network (£10/month inc. Care, no inclusive mins but very low call/sms charges). Unless you make virtually all of your calls on-net to other Voda mobiles I'm sure you would probably find it cheaper. Plug over
Anyway - I thought I heard somewhere that Vodafone Ltd were buying up Singlepoint anyway?

hi simon69, sounds like you work for orange, and yes vodafone are buying out singlepoint because there are shit and it gives vodafone a bad reputation, so buying them out stops tits like dial-a-phone and phones4u which are the biggest con-artist in the world ruining the voda brand.
ps orange are owned by the frogs.....mmm great then.

No i don't work for Orange but I just happen to know a good deal when I see one and like to share the information (I'm nice like that). The HSD tariff is one of Orange's hidden gems - not many people know about it and Orange don't even post the full details of voice call costs on their website because it makes all their Your Plan tariffs look carp! £10 line rental (inc Care that would otherwise be £5) then 7p SMS, xnet @ 30p/12p, and standard calls @ 15p/5p is very difficult to beat!
You can switch onto the HSD plan as long as you have a HSCSD capable phone. If you don't you can always tell them that you will be using the SIM in a HSCSD phone that you happen to have
