> T610 GPRS problems on Vodafone

Has anyone else had this problem:
Yesterday, my T610 was working fine accessing WAP sites (Vodafone Live, BBCi), POP3 and sending MMS, as well as linking to my PDA to surf the web email and stuff.
At lunchtime, the WAP access and MMS access stopped.
On WAP, the phone says "Connecting" then "Loading" for ages and then "Communications Error, Check your settings or try again later" (sometimes just "Communications error") .
With MMS, I get "Sending" for ages, then the same error messages.
I had the Vodafone live settings sent to me again by SMS twice and both times, they caused the phone to hang so that I had to turn it off and then on again.
The PDA is still able to access the internet and the phone will still access POP3 accounts.
I created a new profile based on the settings from my PDA, but that gives the same errors.
I have a horrible idea that the WAP browser is corrupt in some way. Is this possible?
Any suggestions?

I had a similar problem after I connected with my pda but I think this was because I use a dial string in my dial-up (+cgdcont=1,"ip","internet") which I think managed to overwrite the Vodafone Live! default data comms account (CID1). So I decided to remove the old Vodafone GPRS data comms account and set up my Internet GPRS data comms account as CID1. Of course the Vodafone Live! wap profile was still looking for a data comms account called Vodafone GPRS. So I downloaded the Vodafone WAP GPRS settings again and this recreated another 'Vodafone GPRS' data comms account (CID2) and added another wap profile 'Vodafone GPRS' (in addition to the locked Vodafone Live! and Vodafone MMS profiles). After selecting the new profile and accessing it via the righthand side button the Live! softkey also works again now.
Maybe the problem you are having is because you haven't deleted the old Vodafone GPRS data account? When the settings are sent by SMS it tries to set up both a WAP profile and a data account. Although the SMS settings have a different name for the WAP profile, the data account has the same name as the phone's default so perhaps it falls over when trying to create another account with the same name.
Don't forget that WAP/MMS should be connecting via a different data account than your PDA and pop3 e-mail. They both use different APNs so if you have overwritten the WAP/MMS data account then this is why you can't access WAP or send/receive MMS but can still access pop3 and use your pda.

if what simon69c says doesn't work, try contacting a voda store and get them to take gprs and mms off your account and reactivate it again, it could be that the apn for wap has stop working.

Thanks, folks, but I am sad to say that it is the phone... Something has gone sadly wrong: my T68i has all the usual GPRS functions, so the account it OK.
I checked with the Vodafone shop and the guy there said that he had someone in with exactly the same problem earlier that day.
The phone goes back today for exchange. Which I don't mind too much as it was hissing as well.
I have to say that I think that the modified Vodafone Live! Software is probably to blame. I am not very happy with the fact that I cannot customise the thing the way I want it.
I might even just forget the thing and go back to my T68i.

Hi, whilst on the subject of Vodafone GPRS, can someone help a newbie with a question? (Done a search, but no-one seems as un-informed as me!). Anyway, I've just upgraded to a T610 with Singlepoint (I know!, they're crap, but the phone was only £20!). What do I need to do to get GPRS access? At the moment I'm on their Freedom 200 tariff. Do I need to ask them for a GPRS price plan in addition to that? What will I actually receive, just account details which I need to enter into the phone? Also, I know that a graphic appears above the signal strength indicator on the phone to indicate that GPRS is within range, should that appear even when I'm not on a GPRS price plan to show that the service is available in my location??
A confused GPRS newbie.
Thanks in advance for your advice, and no flaming me because I'm with Singlepoint! You know they're crap, I know they're crap! We all know they're crap!

Hi, yeah they did, so I'll check my usage then, and change if necessary. I wasn't that keen on staying with Singlepoint, but the deal they offered seemed pretty good. Do you use GPRS?
