Ok Norton works. But for all you McAfee fans here is the McAfee tech support response: (You can try and see if it works, I'm using Norton now)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for contacting McAfee Consumer Online Support. My name is Ronnie. Having reviewed your e-mail regarding unable to synchronize your Sony Ericsson P800 software to run when the VirusScan 7 software; I would be happy to support you in resolving your issue.
To resolve this issue, you will need to exclude the folder for the Sony Ericsson software that you use to synchronize your mobile phone with your PC. To do this, please open up your VirusScan main window, Click on "Configure Automatic Protection Settings" under tasks, Click on the Advanced button, Please Click on System Scan icon on the left hand side panel.
Then click on 'Exclusion' tab...Please browse out to that folder that contains files for synchronizing your mobile phone device with your PC and then add that folder to the exclusion list.
Once that is done, your issue should resolve.
Thank you for visiting McAfee Online Support. I appreciate the opportunity to support your needs. You may receive a survey asking for your comments on this e-mail experience. Your feedback will help to ensure that I'm providing the highest quality service possible.
Regards,
Ronnie S.

I've found that most solutions that Mcafee provide rarely work anyway, which is why i gave up and changed to Norton, all things are well with Norton and i wont be going back

I never had a problem with syncing whilst using McAffee, but I did find mRouter crashed regularly requiring a reboot to come back to life. Saw this at least once per day. Switched to Norton a week ago, not had a single crash yet. This in on XP by the way.

Its a shame because Norton doesn't half make your PC run slow

Changing scanning from "Comprehensive" to "Smart Scan" seems to help alot though.

guys, i'm running xp pro and mcafee virus scan enterprise and funnily had no problems for the first month of sync operation with my p900!
suddenly mRouter started crashing few secs upon putting phone in the cradle, giving "fatal exception - thread bla, bla" with all connections and ports disappearing in Phone Connection Link window.
Reinstalled sync sw several times, including latest 2.1.1 but still crashing
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
