Even when I switch this feature OFF, the ringtone will still increase from zero volume to highest when the phone rings. I'm missing calls where people hang up after a few rings... Shouldn't the phone ring at it's highest volume with this feature switched off??

I think that this should be corrected by :se: in a next software release... When i choose the loudest ringing, there should be the loudest ringing and nothing else! This message was posted from a T610

This is not a bug as it also exists in the T300 since loud ringtones could damage ur hearing. That's what the T300 tells u. This message was posted from a P800

I think this is a design flaw. Other polyphonic phones like motorola 720 have a separate speaker for the ringtone. That allows very love ring without risk of ear damage. Why didn't se design their polyphonic phones this way? This message was posted from a T300

indeed it can. The option in the phone is called increasing ring and has settings for on or off.

It seems that the increasing volume that we hear is not due to this functionality but due to the way SE wants (or thinks we want) the tune to start.

Increasing ring is more gradual.

then is it only preinstalled ringtones that start in this way?

or are you saying that tones start very quietly and get louder anyway, and that turning on the increased ring option, err... makes the tones start even quieter?

erm?
