> Playing video on Nokia 3650 and SE P800

What is the biggest .avi or .mpg file on a PC that can be transferred to a SE P800 (with 16MB stick) and then played back on it?
Will someone please also confirm whether a video file of about 70 MB can be played on Nokia 3650? Someone had posted a message on this forum that 70 MB video file, when transferred to this phone, gets compressed to about 2 to 3 MB. Is that correct?
If the 16 MB memory sticks come separately, how much do these cost?

.avi or .mpeg will not play on p800 the file has to be mp4 . the largest file you can fit on a 16mb stick will be 16mb (as long as the is nothing else stored on it) and 70mb compressed to 2-3mb i seriously doubt it.

Well, I read about this compression bit only on this forum. Someone had mentioned actual names of movies that he was able to play on Nokia 3650.

The P800 video size limit is the size of your Memory. AVI files are Windows only video files. The 3650 and P800 can play MPEG4 files (mp4), the P800 can also play the upcoming VICS video (.vic, and .vcs) files which are much better than MP4.
I once tried having the entire Apollo13 movie on my P800, and it plays back just fine (although fast forwarding and rewinding take forever).. I was able to squash the file down to 120MB, it was really blocky, but I just wanted to see if it would fit.
I have the 128MB Duo, so whatever fits... fits.
Maximum video dimensions are 192 x 144 at about 10-12fps.

if u had a dvd divx rip, and compressed it to the phone it would be down to about 60-70 megs...so pretty good, dont for get its not just compressing it its changing a AC3 dolby digital sound track to a mono 8bit on and a huge res movie to 178xwhat ever the phone is but much smaller so therfore less data!
so yeah it does compress to what looks like silly levels but just think about what its actually doing!

Anyway, the arithmetics given by Mcpants confuses me further. 150 MB episode got compressed to 10 MB on Nokia 3650. So 20 of these episodes should have occupied 200 MB. How did these fit in a stick of 128MB?
The second part about compression using dvd divx rip seems clearer. Basically what I understand is that 1500 MB can get compressed to about 60-70 MB if resolution is brought down to that of the mobile phone and 8 bit mono audio is used. Am I correct?
How much does a 128 MB stick cost?
Kindly give point-wise replies.

128mb stick is about £100. With the compression thing i thought you ment th phone itself compressed the file (doh)

US$112 for the 128MB Duo.
For the P800, you have to convert the video file to an MP4 file first using a 3rd party app... some people use Quicktime, others MPEGABLE, I use Packet Video Author.

No its just one stick. i guess its called duo because its the 2nd type of mem stick by sony. memory stick2 i guess
