Well, my new t610 should arrive tomorrow morning.
Does everyone still do the first battery charge for 14 hours or so or is that old hat now? I don't want to have to wait that long to use it

I would suggest the first thing to do would be to read the manual. In fact you can read
this online version tonight to prepare.
In there it says to charge for 4 hours. Always best to do what the manual says I reckon since the manufacturer wrote it. Anything anyone else says is probably a guess unless they are battery technology experts.

The first few charge rule isn't about "memory effect" anyway - it is to ensure that all the cells get properly initialised as they won't all get charged properly within the normal 2 hour charge cycle. The trickle charge for the extra couple of hours ensures that all the cells do get fully charged and significantly improves the subsequent performance of the battery.

That's about the size of it - you just need to allow the extra time for the first two or three charges to ensure all the cells have reached full capacity - after that they should all get to full charge within the normal charging cycle.

Draing lithium based batteries usually shortens or affects the battery's full capacity unlike nickel based cells which is going extinction. So dnt let your battery to drain often & dont overcharge it
