You should try OGG, it's even better than both, much smaller and great quality. You can get OGG player from www.my-symbian.com and the encoders from www.vorbis.com
tried, ogg is a bit better than mp3, but ATRAC3 is way much better in sound quality.
Furthermore, ogg player under P800, will became laggy if you are transfering/ or moving around phone functions and playing music at the same time. The original playing wont have the above problem
Try it yourself with RealONE player and rip your own CDs, then you will see the different. I am only using 10 bucks speakers (but definitely those with external power)
