Hi,
SUDDENLY RECENTLY - When i have the phone go onto standby mode (usually I put it into virtual flip closed mode and then lock it) and the light turns off after 2 minutes .... when I try to turn the key lock off by either pushing the jog dial in first then pressing * or by pressing OK with stylus and then * ..... THE LIGHT DOES NOT TURN ON ... infact I don't think the light turns on AT ALL in virtual flip closed mode after having locked and gone into standby with light turned off. ONLY when I minimise the Virtual FLIP CLOSED and go into FULL SCREEN MODE the light comes on AND that happens ONLY after about 3 SECONDS WAIT ... it's highly annoying as it's hard to see ANYTHING ion the screen even during the day without the light INSTANTLY coming on.... IDEALLY (and if I remember correctly from before) the light should come on IMMEDIATELY when I press ANYTHING on virtual flip closed mode so I can see what i'm doing to unlock it .... OR AT LEAST ONCE UNLOCKED the light should instantly come on in Virtual Flip Closed Mode....

Has anyone had a similar problem and been able to resolve it or does anyone know of where I can sort this out on some hidden settings orsomething which i can't seem to find?

your LIGHT settings in your DISPLAY option must have been set to AUTO. try setting it to ON.

I had the same problem too . After that , the whole screen after a few days . Once you switch on the phone , i only can feel the phone and cant see the phone alive . The whole screen cant see anything anymore . I went back to service centre and told them my problem and live my phone there . After 3 days , they ask me to pick up the phone . Once i reach there , they told me so sorry . They had try to changed many parts , but stil failed to fixed it . Now have to wait for the claime . This message was posted from a T68i

It's miniGPS. Just found out, I was having the same problem. uninstall miniGPS and the light will work fine.

If you put the phone in virtual flip closed mode and then lock it with the jog dial the phone is then loacked and the light will not come on. That is the way is it and that is the way it always has been!

If you move the jog dial up or down you will get a message saying press ok to unlock but the light will not come on. If you tap ok the light will then come on and enable you to see to press star to unlock it.

The main reason for this is to stop the light coming on in your pocket every time the screen is touched. I don't see what the problem is? Or have I got your question wrong?

When you lock your phone with the flip on or with the virtual flip on, the light will never turn on unless you press OK. That's how it has always been for me and my other friends who hav P800s.

I believe this is a way to conserve battery life. Since you wouldn't want the light firing up everytime the phone's buttons get accidentally pushed in your pocket when phone lock is on.

Anyways, there's an option to keep the light on all the time if you don't care about battery life.

Do you have UNREALPAYER installed on your phone??
I have it and this caused a problem the same as youre having.
If i did not close down UNREAL player and go to flip closed(virtual), when i press any buttons in flip mode the light does not come on, the light will only reactivate if i open the virtual flip!!!!
Bug in the software.......

Do you have miniGPS too?

I have UnrealPlayer and I did have miniGPS. When I removed miniGPS the light worked again. Perhaps an incompatability with the 2 products?
