> T610 v P800

I know it's an apples to oranges comparison, but that's the choice I'm finding myself faced with.
I'm trying to judge on different factors:
I hear the t610 screen is a bit iffy in sunlight. The p800, I hear again, doesn't suffer that. It does, however, have less colours.
I was also told that the p800 doesn't have t9, yet GSMArena says it does.
The p800 can store more, but memory is expensive.
Can anyone else help me pick? The main factor is of course price although this seems to be coming down a bit.

I've wanted the p800 for a while now but it's always been very expensive. However, I could have .wav as ringtones and get away from the polyphonic price issue.
The t610 is nice, but low memory.

Me again! Go for P800. I was quite unsure about the t9 as well before but you don't need it on P800 to be honest since the implementation of touch screen with hand writing recognition. It's way more fun than tapping it with T9.
Anyway, I use mine without the flip which I think is more user friendly. You'll see what I mean when you got hold of it!
You can't go wrong with P800 as the posters after me will suggest the same.

This program could prove vital for me as I do an awful lot of miles up and down motorways and various roads in the UK, to airports and ferry terminals, both in coaches and my own MPV. Since I got it, apart from a problem with GPRS, which turned out to be a Orange thing. ( they forgot to activate it after telling me several times it was active. ) I have fallen in love with it. It does everything I need and more. I may never use all the functions but they are there and more to download should I need them. If yo can afford it go for the P800. You will not regret it, after all it does not have a hissing problem anyway. Screen is far better, battery life is an issue at the moment but this could just be that my battery is not at peek performance yet. I have only charged it a couple of times and only had it since last Thursday.

Seems that we both got our lovely P800 on the same day! I don't have problem with my battery so far as since last Thusday, I just charged it twice with a lot of usage. I play with it very often as experimental since my booklet is still in it's wrapper.
How are you getting on with your's?

I have charged it about three times, but have spent about 4 hours on the phone to Orange to sort out GPRS. Spent 2 hours yesterday playing chess and cards while waiting on some passengers along with about an hour and a half on the phone and BT on all day. Charged it the night before over night and by 10:30 last night down to 28% battery. Charged it over night last night and not used it at all today just on standby, and now have 95%. So after 13hours on standby with no usage I have only used 5% of the battery. Does that seem alot.

-Sometimes when I'm calling my ear/face accidentally presses the screen. The result is that it sometimes calls another person who is on my 'Phone' menu. The person I was speaking to is then put on hold. This has happened 3 times now, and I'm getting very pissed off with it (especially when it happens in the middle of the night).
-You always (well most of the time) have to use 2 hands to work with the phone, so you can't easily type an sms/email when you're on a bike for example...
-It's just too fat, when I don't have my jacket with me and thus have to put it in my jeans-pocket (or what's it called?
) it becomes uncomfortable after a while.
-When you're in a bumpy train, typing is very hard with the onscreen keyboard, so lotsa typo's... Handwriting sux imho, I can't work with it.
-After using it one month I found that most of the programs are nice but not neccessary/usefull at all to me (like miniGPS for example). The things I do use are also in the T610 (well except for Opera).
-I tend to be extremely careful with it as it looks quite fragile. I know from an earlier experience that those touchscreens can't have too much pressure...
-The battery only lasts for about a day if you use it a lot, which is just too short for me.
But if you don't consider these things as problems and have the cash, go buy a P800, featurewise it really is the absolute top phone at the moment

Hi...I'm new here...been reading all your posts...I'm a bit worried now, coz you've all been saying negative stuff about the t610. I just got it today for £11, an upgrade from Vodafone. That's really surprising...so I took advantage and got in within 15 minutes. I'm using it now and it really got a hissing problem...but a weird thing happened coz I left it on my table just 1/2 an hour ago, and when I came back...a blue vertical line appeared on the screen!!! Grrrr!!! I tried switching it on and off several times, thinking it might get off...but it won't!!! Good thing it's only the first day...maybe I'll be finding more problems in the next few days...(hope not) but definitely I'm going to return it on the 14th day...
Another thing...when you get the T610 from voda, you'll notice that they really made it specialized for the use of the Voda Live...they changed the menu design and icons (which is really yuck!!!) as compared to the original ones.

The T610 clearly is just about the best hi-end phone out there (not smartphone) and I deeply love its design. However there are definitely some very big advantages with the P800. If you're like me (though I hope you're not) you occasionally need some information from the Web. The P800 can get that. You may also need stuff like a Currency Converter. The P800 can get you that. You may need various IM clients. The P800 has clients for almost any IM protocol I know of. Plus there are a lot of other advantages. As I said, I like the T610 but there is no way that I can go "back" to a T610 when I'm used to all the aforementioned advantages. I can't live without access to the web or many of the other cool features and programs. Plus the e-mail client and calendar are really well-made on the P800. As for the handwriting, I think you'll get used to it. A system similar to T9 that recognizes which words you're writing SHOULD be released soon, so we might see some improvement there.
So basically it depends on whether you want to take the best features from your computer with you where ever you go or if you just want the snazziest regular phone on the market.
