> T610 Bluetooth on/off and ascending ringtone

My 610 does not have an 'automatic' option in it's bluetooth function which my old 68i had. It is now either 'on' or 'off'. I think keeping it on uses up lots of juice. 'Automatic' was great because it only turned on in the presence of a paired device. Is this true for all 610s?
Also, I seem to be unable to turn off the ascending ring tone!
Anyone have the same gripes? Solutions?
Mine is R1A081 firmware.

Auto doesn't make it turn on in the presence of a paired device. Auto just means it's 'off' until the phone itself wants to do something bluetooth related. If for example you have a bluetooth headset it won't connect to the phone unless the phone is in the 'on' state - being in auto the phone has no idea that there are bluetooth devices present - paired or otherwise.
I think the T610 gets round this somewhat by making it much easier to turn bluetooth on/off than the t68 (which needed about 7 key presses) - I believe it is directly accessible from the 'More' menu on the T610's standby screen isn't it? I don't know for sure because I only had a Voda Live! T610 where they had helpfully replaced the 'More' menu with a Vodaofne Live! icon grr!

There isn't a concept of automatic any more on the T610.
If bluetooth is on then paired devices can always connect to the phone. If bluetooth is off then nothing can connect.
Discoverable is now named visibility and is in the options menu of the bluetooth menu. This can be "show phone" or "hide phone".

My T68i was always on 'auto' and did indeed detect my paired HBH 60 when the phone rang or the call button was pressed on the headset.
The problem I find without 'auto' is that the battery consumption is much higher with bluetooth on.
It is easier to turn on the bluetooth function now but still it's an extra step and also my memory often fails me!
Maybe the old 'auto' had too many problems, none of which I had experienced though.

Totally agree with you. Would have been really nice to have an "Auto" feature for BT. Quite a number of times I have forgetten to turn off BT after synching or transfering files. Man, BT on all the time does decrease the battery level faster.

When you paired t68 with ...well anything, bluetooth switched from auto to on. simon69c is right, auto means "off" untill needed. By the way, it worked when you got a phonecall, because if paired to a headset the phone will search for it even if bluetooth is set to "auto" and not "on"

As for ascending ring tone. Normally (if ascending ring tone option is OFF) there will be aprox. 6 sec before the ringing will reach full volume. This is there to protect your ears. If ascending ring tone option is ON, it will take much longer (30 sec?) to reach full volume.

I havent noticed that leaving BT on on the T610 chews through the battery. I'm pretty sure it just idles unless it sends or recieves a signal. I could be wrong though.

It does pretty much idle most of the time, unless there is a lot of bluetooth activity in the area.
