I live in a black-spot for T-Mobile. My T68i has little reception, though my wife's 7210 fares quite a bit better. No surprises there, considering the T68i's reception quality. In the following thread

someone mentions stronger sim cards for better reception. Has anyone in the UK, Europe or the world ever heard of these and how they work? Is there a technical name for them? T-Mobile don't believe the sim card impacts on RF abilities of the phone and have not heard of anything that fits the description. For that matter, neither have I.

based on that other thread I rang Vodafone 3 times yesterday (because I never believe 1 person only from there) and they never heard of it either.
I'm also wondering why we needed a new thread for this since its the same topic as that other thread?
Anyway for completeness I am going to call my Australian operator (Telstra) over the weekend and see what they say.

I agree, new thread was not needed but there isn't anything we can do about it now.
The only difference is that you can get different sized sim cards (memory size), but that should not make an ounce of difference regarding reception.
You could phone up your provider and ask them for a new 'larger' sim and see if thta make any difference.

No such thing. You wont get a stronger signal with one SIM card over another unless one is faulty (and for those of you who believe you can, a phones' visual signal indicator is NOT how you check!) Any differences you see are due to handsets/network fluctuations, the SIMcard has nothing to do with reception, thats the job of the antenna&radio equipment built into your mobile.
Different accounts to which that SIM is linked may have different network priorities-eg PAYG used to have lower networ priority than contract accounts on some networks, dont know if they still do-that means that whenever a cell was busy, it would be all the PAYG phones that got the 'network busy' on trying to call someone, while all the contracts were allowed through. You certainly wouldn't see less signal on the PAYG- you just wouldn't always get through.
TBH, l think the OP has just been fobbed off with a load of bullshit about these 'stronger SIMs'...

Well, Maybe there is some truth to it. I do know that improved sim cards can improve battery life. For instance ther are such things as different generation sim cards like phase 1 phase 2 etc. Besides the increase in memory it regulates how often a phone attempts to check the signal strength with the nearest beakon. Based on this it may be possible to regulate signal strength better. But thats just my opinion from what I have been told.. It might also be boloks
