After i download emails from the pop3 server onto my p800, after a couple of days or so, the emails are gone.

any ideas as to why this is happening.

thanks.

Are you deleting them off the server (ie, downloading them with a POP client) or does your server automatically delete them after a certain period? When the p800 syncs with the server, it will delete the messages from the phone if they aren't on the server anymore.

Yes, i download them with MS Outlook afterwards.

thats explaines why then.

When i download the message from the server with outlook, it removes the messages for the server.
Then when i do a get and send from the p800, it downloads the new messages then also must remove the old ones from the phone as they have been removed from the server.

is this correct?

Also, there is a setting on synchronisation which will delete from the phone any e-mails older than a certain number of days. Default is 1 day I think.

Yep that's correct. The phone basically mirrors whatever is on the server while giving no regard to the 'history' of the phone's downloads.

It's a little disconcerting because you think that message is dloaded on the phone but it's just mirroring what is on the server at that time.

I don't know if you can archive messages on the phone (prolly can - send to archive or something) or you can go into Outlook and look under options and check the box that says 'leave emails on server' but then you have to delete em yerself.

I set outlook to leave them on the server for 7 days, then I can view them on the P800 for that time, without majorly clogging up the server
