I got the latest magazine a couple of days ago and the screens of the t610 don't seem to have orange branding , apart from the orange strip above the soft keys, though i think that this is probably just a theme as the original phone had an option where you could customise menus etc, but it had been disabled on the Vodafone t610 i had(and returned).

I have used a Orange T610 test phone, one of the phones Orange's engineers get from SE to test and create the diagnostics for Customer Services.

The software on it had not been customised.

If Orange release a non-customised T610 (apart from the Orange background, but NO orange themes please!) - just like the T68i, then I'm sure they'll win a lot of people over!

If I was on Vodafone, they'd have lost my custom with that awful (looking) mess that is Voda Live.

Is the Vodafone Live menu in the SIM or in the phone?
I found this in the manual.

"Online services are customized services offered by network operators, independently of mobile phones and mobile phone manufacturers.

A SIM card which supports Online services works in the same way as a normal SIM card. When you have inserted your SIM card and turned on your phone, your network operator can download data to your SIM card. When you restart your phone after the first data download, a new submenu appears under the menu."

Since all T610 Vodafone Live phones are network locked (I think) there are no real way to check if it is in the SIM.

Or is this wrong?

That's wrong - well, what you are saying is wrong anyway. You can unlock a T610 LIVE! phone, and shove say an O2 or Orange SIM in there and you'll still see crap icons - all the customisations are in the phone, not the SIM card.

The 'new menus' appearing is really to do with nokia phones, as my example: a standard nokia has so many normal menus, but when you insert a certain customised SIM card, hidden menus will appear - they were already in the phone, they are just activated by the presence of the SIM. This is the 'SERVICES' menu with a picture of a SIM card you see on nokias, and allows to to dial voicemail directly, see your own number, provides bookmarks for operator content etc etc. SE do the same thing WITHIN the main menus - all it means is a couple of hidden text options buried within the 'Connectivity' menu will appear, for the above reasons.
