When yer outside on a sunny day, you don't recognize a thing on the screen. This is really bad.

Other than that, I am REALLY happy with my T610. It's a funny toy and we'll have a good year together

THe only two LCD screens I haven't had a problem with in direct sunlight is my ipaq 5450 and my Garmin GPS streetpilot 3.

Its a common problem and I hope the new screen technologies of the future address this problem.

Tried the new Kodak LS633 digital camera the other day, its the first digi cam with an OLED display and guess what its still near invisible in sunlight. This message was posted from a T68i

That really weird, I have an OEL display on my car stereo, and its really bright in sunlight too, and stunning at night, god why cant they make a decent phone with an OEL display???

As for LCD screen, my P800 is pretty good in sunlight. It has a reflective front lit screen, and its pretty clear in sunlight (some woudl say more soo), and doesnt need the backlight on at all.

geez... that's why the T610 should have a TFT-LCD 65k instead of a STN 65k screen... but hey, not that i mind anyway...

OK, here comes the question, what's the different between a TFT and STN?

The trouble with TFTs is that they use too much power .... if they included a TFT everyone would be complaining about the cr*p battery life of the T610 instead.

They are more suited to clamshell phones, as the screen inside goes off when the phone is shut. Even then, the battery life of any phone with a TFT is still bad compared to the T610.
