Hi,
I just got my T610 (on voda in the uk) and want to get email working with it. I have my own server and set up the pop account, just not sure how to set it up on the phone.
I've seen references to APNs on here, what are they? do I need one?
I've tried the various GPRS profiles from the sony ericsson website and the vodafone live GPRS profile but it never seems to be able to find the server, just keeps looking for it.
Should I be able to access my server from any WAP profile?
Sorry if these appear to be dumb questions, i'm new to this on a mobile

ok, I've done some digging and found out a few things but still stumped for setting up the email.
It seems that all the WAP and GPRS settings I had downloaded dont seem to allow full internet access. I sent myself the Mviva WAP profile from the Sony Ericsson website and managed to access my server and send a mail. So.. at this stage I know my server and account are fine and can work from the phone. Next step is get it working with GPRS. With a dig about I found out that I can use an APN of "internet" with a username of "web" and password of "web". This works fine for normal wml pages. But when I try to check my email I get "GPRS parameters not supported". I've seen many references to this problem but unfortunately no solutions.
I phoned up vodafone (carphone warehouse) and they have upgraded my account from GPRS starter to GPRS select, not sure exactly what this means but apparantly it will take 24 hours to have an effect, i'll just check it later on i think, probably wont take that long. Hopefully this will cure the problem, if not I'm stumped.

If you told the vodafone people that you wanted a GPRS account which can access pop servers then they should have set you up with the correct GPRS account. They may not have told you though that they will probably charge you more for using the higher GPRS package.
Regards,
Phil.

apparantly this GPRS select is also free, I did ask that question. I'm not sure what the difference is with it though.

You need to set up a separate data account for accessing email. Password and user should both be 'web'. I know this works on voda.

I've got the Data account set up, and it works fine for "surfing" but I still get the "GPRS Parameters not Supported" error when i try to connect to my pop server. Phoned vodafone themselves there and they werent very helpful although they raised a case with their expert guys, might have to wait a few days for a response though.
