w17-w20 are defective, need sent back to be repaired.
w21-w22 quick fix using the work round - turned down the amp.
w23-w?? are manufactured properly.
Just so i know as i'm maybe going to buy one at lunch time, or later after work.

bollox, well im kind of fed up with all this, as long as i get one that i can't hear the hiss, and still hear someone on the other end of the line i'll be happy.
I've been without a phone for too long now.
What was the R?A on your phone?

SE says if it states R3A under battery it is the new batch and should be fixed , it has nothing to do with dates , firmware ect.....
Just been told from eshop at SE.

Mine was bough on Sat at CW andd it hisses but I could even live with it, it is R2A but I can take it back within 28 days to CW and they will swap it over which is what I will do.

well just back from CPW and they had a new delivery this morning though the phone the ASSistant showed me was a w19 and wasn't R3A so i didn't even bother to test it, besides the guy hadn't a clue, so i'll try a different one after work (one were they at least know about the problem)
