Right, I thought I'll be cleaver and remove the Jpegs on the phone and replace them with gifs that would be smaller.

This is the same pic: Abstract.jpeg = 18kb Astract.gif = 3KB

I save it on the phone VIA IFR and it says u want to download picture 3KB. I save it and in the picture info it say 3KB. I thought great now I can save the pictures using gif format to save space. I now wanted to delete the pic its says u "sure u want to delete picture 18KB" and in the memory status I've found it too 18KB too.

Does this mean the phone can't tell the difference between the 2 formats?

(hint)did you check how much it said when you wanted to delete the jpeg file???
Try uploading the jpeg file and delete it and se how much it says.. I am pretty sure it will say about 50k....

No it does not come up with 50KB

18.1KB Jpeg comes up as 22KB when I try deleting it

same problem to all t610s. a 5K jpeg files when deleting it says 37K!

i heard from others from another forum saying that the phone actually converts the jpeg pics to RAW format. which means its like saving it in bitmap. BIGGER file sizes.

SO whats the point that its able to read gif and Jpeg files? and how comes the file info reports it as the correct size but not when u delete it?
