Has anyone managed (or even
tried) to get an unbranded t610 on vodafone. I'm currently with vodafone but my contract is up for renewal. I'd be happy to stay with vodafone as I am happy with the network .. but only if I can get an unbranded t610 - otherwise it looks like I'm off to orange (assuming they have not
ruined the phone too!)

Well yes kind of, I got a T610 from Voda and I am billed by Voda themselves, and mine is all branded, but my mate got his from Car Phone Warehouse as he is billed by CPW on Voda, and his is unbranded and the operating system is not customised either...lucky git,

Hmmm interesting ... I wonder if CPW are prepared to give out unbranded t610s on VODA ? I'd certainally stay on vodafone if that were the case....

That is as far as i know what CPW do, they stock original SE phones, maily as they cover all networks, it means they don't have excess T610's on particular networks that don't sell well and then a shortage on others that do.
Today i got my T610 from them (it was a T-Mobile contract i signed up for) and it was a lovely un-touched un branded phone, even in the menu's. It has all the original SE themes, tones and wallpapers (if anyone want them let me know).
It hisses but not that bad, but i'll maybe take it back and exchange it in a couple of weeks or else send it off to get fixed, but i love it and it looks really nice with the new Mac OS X theme i made up.

If you buy the handset from vodafone (either payg or contract) it has all their horrible customisations. Same with orange (though it's not out yet and i don't think they have altered the software but definitely the casing has their logo) and t-mobile. However, i bought mine (arriving tomorrow

) from directmobilephones.com, where they buy the handsets from a se distributor, not the network. So no nasty graphics or disfigured shells on o2, voda & t-mobile (plus they are unlocked too!)

Do you know if it is the hiss-free version of t610 from directmobilephones.com ?

CPW do brand their handsets but ever so slightly, usually with their mviva data account settings on applicable handsets. Apart from that, the rest of it looks default.

Hehe, that is of course the trick, buy your phone + a separate service plan from a retailer who is not connected to one single brand

They sell unlocked phones (

), barely branded and you still get the discounted price coz you purchase a service plan too
At least here in NL, this strategy has never failed me
