@jepoy, your assuming he is lined up North/South, whereas he may be laying East/West for example, if he is on his back all Northern/Southern counties will be to his right.
You are correct that at any given time all countries are not to his right. it must have been said in a moment of madness & he may regret it for the rest of his life.
