Hi!

I've tryied setting up my email with the configurator using Zen Internet as my ISP, but when I do send & receive it comes up with 'error, cannot connect to server'. I've also tried it with FreeUK with the same result.

What's the problem?

Sounds like you are trying to dial into your ISP on your phone which most providers do not allow (data calls are blocked).
Instead connect using a data GPRS account or a GSM WAP dialup and connect to the servers that way.

Phil.

Shouldn't the configurator accomodate for this?

I used to be able to connect to FreeUK on my T68i but can't with the old T610.

How can I find out the GPRS settings for Zen Internet?

Right, What I was saying about 'dialing in' is that a lot of providers block their users from being able to make data calls which are required for dialing into ISP servers. This is set by your service provider and is not affected by the type of phone that you use. If you want to you can phone up your provider and ask them to enable this on your account.

Alternatively:
Most users send and receive their email using the mobile internet connections provided by their Service provider. E.g: I use my O2 GSM wap dialup to send and receive my email. The reason we do this is because often it is more cost effective; I get free wap minutes e.t.c.
To do this you can either use a GPRS data connection or a GSM wap dialup, (note that you cannot use a GPRS wap connection, it must be data).
Go to the configurator page and get the conenction setting sent to your phone and then one of these for your email. If you decide to use GSM then you should be able to use it straight away, if you have opted to use GPRS data then you will need to phone up your provider and ask them to enable GPRS on your account. Remember that you must ask them to enable the data GPRS APN and not the WAP APN.

Regards,

Phil.

Phil, you've done it mate, thank you!

Decided to connect with standard GSM, can't be arsed to phone Zen and activate GPRS on the account.

Strangely enough, FreeUK used to accepts data calls from my phone when I had the T68i, but using exactly the same configuration, it wouldn't access my mail server with my T610...

Anyways, all sorted now so thanks again!
