possibly some more email-requests will change their minds

1. email:
"Thank you for your interest in XTM.

We have no plans to make a version of XTM for the P800. Although it would be technically possible to move parts of the emulator to the P800, it is not clear what people would use it for. MS DOS requires an 80 x 25 character (or 640 x 200 pixel) screen, and a keyboard. In general, PC software will not run on a machine with a 240x320 pixel screen and no keyboard, so unless you know about a particular need for the emulator, we don't think it makes any commercial sense to produce a P800 version.

2. email:

"Yes, the biggest problem is the lack of a keyboard. Most DOS programs - including games - assume that you've got a keyboard; games that don't use the keyboard much in play still need it to install and configure the software, and just using the DOS environment (AUTOEXEC files, CONFIG.SYS, moving around directories, launching programs) needs a keyboard.

Who cares really....Wots the point of usin DOS stuff on ur P800?

Just buy a real cheap Laptop instead! DOS doesnt require Ghz of power, a £100 P100 will prob suffice!

Also we would prob be inviting plagues of viruses onto our phones...Great! NOT!

Viruses???
lol!
The only way a virus made for a pc would affect your phone was "PERHAPS" when you are running the dos emulator...
A normal pc virus simply won't work on your p800 for the same reason as a normal pc program won't run on your p800.

The virus could maybe mess up the program you are using within your emulator.. But that would be it.

Of course using dos on the p800 would be alot of hard work...
Perhaps if you could run windows on it... Like windows 3.1.
I mean. Windows runs under dos. But I'm sure it's more complicated than that..

But don't worry about viruses though. Until they start making p800 viruses you're quite safe. But when that day comes...

Hello,

its a great pity that there will be no p800 version of xtm available. Sure there is a problem with the missing keyboard but the p800 has an onscreen keyboard. That can be useful in applications. However in dos games there could be exist some left or right-justified keys in the screen. These keys should be user-defined, depending on the game or app that will be used.
Also the P800/900 has a display resolution of only 208x320 pixels. There is really a problem to display dos games that need a resolution of 230x240 or more. So there could be helpful to resample the screen output to the P800 resolution.

I think that is sense enough to use a p800 version of xtm.

Hi again,

upcoming there will be available the P910 of sony erricson. This phone will have an hardware keyboard. Is that reason enough to produce the p800/900 version of xtm?
