Does anybody know how to do this? I have found a very good (and very good value) mail service called Runbox (www.runbox.com). Great Spam filtering, 200MB mail account etc.

However I often like to read mails on My P800, and then delete them to free up memory. However doing this deletes them on the Runbox.com server as well.

They assure me that it is a facility on the P800 that needs to be activated and not at their end - so can anybody help me?

Is this true? or is it a facility that they should have?

I read through the manual but can't seem to see where I would activate it.

Any help is really appreciated.

Regards

Mike

This is something I have quickly looked into because I use the p800 for email when i'm away from a computer (which in all fairness isn't for any length of time that desperately needs me to have access to my email) but I can't find the option to let you keep messages on the server.
It'll be an option on the phone that SE missed, a bit like delivery reports for SMS on the original firmware versions.
Best we can hope for is SE add it in a future firmware or a 3rd party app (which may exist already, as I said, not looked into this in any detail) could do it for you.

i think you can delete them from the phone and as long as you don't perform a Get&Send until you have collected them from your PC you should be ok.

Of course this really only gets you one check of your mail remotely .... hope for a firmware update !

I use Get&Send all the time. And my mail are still on the server.. which I hate. Because I want them removed from the server once I have downloaded them.

One thing that you guys might want to try is to read the messages and the mark them as unread. Try to do a get and send later. Might just work. Back them up first! Just a thought. This message was posted from a T68i

It does keep them on the server! When you download them they come onto your phone and stay on the server. When you delete them, then they will be deleted from the server. So it does what you want it to, except for the post above me!

I do wish some people would read posts before answering.

Thanks Exilis!

One Idea I've thought of is to create a mailbox called "Read & Kept" on my Runbox account. If i then move mails I DO want from my Inbox to that, when I have access to a PC, I can happily delete the other stuff off the inbox.

If anybody else has a more elegant solution I would be interested.

Best wishes

Mike
