can you be hacked by bluetooth? i find it a little disconcerting seeing as you can send things to people via BT when its just on, does that give an open pathway to malicious people?

but, surely, with a laptop, conventional hackers dont rely on having passwords to get into systems, why would one wanting to hack someones phone, say if someone hung around a bank on their laptop with a bluetooth dongle, they could get credit card info etc from people's phones and palmtops

It works, I did it with 7650, T68i, P800 and iPAQ 3870... Used laptop with Linux and MSI USB Bluetooth dongle
I was able to intercept communication, sniff the key, decrypt data, download phone books and surf the filesystem on iPAQ... all without even touching the devices (apart from connecting iPAQ + phone to make some communication)... iPAQ was in discoverable state and the phones were not (not sure about 7650 but I think I made it invisible)
No, I won't tell you how

no sweat, i dont wanna know! but i dabbled in this kinda stuff a couple years back and its scary the kinda stuff you can do to people computers, nothing is secure unless its not connected to _anything_. i just think people should be wary of the things they have on their phones, i keep my cc number etc on the credit card, nowhere else!

If you want to hack some one, you do it the professional way, not through bluetooth. By the way, the se phones have to be discoverable to be able to bluejack them. Even the nokia people here in sweden have become smart about the bluetooth being turned on. I have come upon 50 7650 phones in the city and none have their bluetooth on. The only person that had it on was handycapt man on a wheel chair that was using a bluetooth headset.
