I sent my phone to SE in US but they sent it back saying that they couldn't upgrade it. They sent me a new phone as a replacement. Is there any way to upgrade the firmware?

Got mine upgraded to R2D from SE US last month. I wonder why they woudn't do yours. All I had to do was call and request the upgrade.
