I know this has probably been beaten to death, I used the search but couldnt find anything.
When is the T610 going to be available for everyone here in the states?
I really really really like this phone. I currenty use Sprint with the Sanyo 5150 and its almost ready to die.

Basically, I buy a standard phone thats not "hooked" onto someones service (ie cingular, sprint, tmobile, att, etc). and I just take it to them and they give me a sim card for their service?

and about the sim card, if you still have one from your old phone, you can just insert the old one into your new phone... or.. i guess you could buy a new one..

unfortunately sprint doesnt use the SIM cards!
Im not sure what im gonna do. Ill probably wait a month or so for it to be relased in the US

Will it be ready to go right away or do I have to contact Cingular and let them know I switched phones? Sorry if these sound like lame questions. I don't know too much about the technical aspects of cellphones. I just know they're fun to use

Riskbreaker - yeah, you can pop your Cingular SIM into an unlocked (SIM-free) T610 and it'll work. I'd wait for the T616 to ship though so you'll roam better. Also make sure you have a 32k SIM (will say it on the back). Cingular calls that a "GAIT" SIM.
Vlammetje & JohnN4: US GSM is digital and has SIMs (AT&T/Cingular/T-Mobile). CDMA is digital and does not use SIMs (Sprint/Verizon).
