After getting a commercial sample have appeared new questions, so in the manual delivered with device it is specified, that the amount of memory is equal to 2 Mb. In the manual there is no indication about the presence of 4 Mb as it has been shown in yesterday's news. The arisen discussions that 4 Mb of full memory concern to all applications in the device including preinstalled are not absolutely right. So after removal of all preinstalled tones, applications and other, the memory of the device makes 3.6 Mb, but in no way more. It is necessary to wait for occurrence of the following batch and to hope, that in the new manual listed by us, has not been made typo.
Announcements of the company that by the moment of commercial samples occurrence the problem with allocation of memory will be solved, have not confirmed. In the last samples, available now, files occupy still twice more places, than they should. For example, you load from PC a new theme for phone (in PC it occupies 30 KB), in the phone's memory its storage will require already twice more size (60 KB). It makes the memory size allocated for user practically twice less. Similar lack was in Sony Ericsson T68i, and the new device is also constructed on its platform.
That fact concerns to good news, that two weeks ago has been found out and corrected the other mistake concerned with noise in speaker. The first device batches had unpleasant effect, during talking you could hear sibilant sounds in speaker. The problem concerned to the hardware ones, but not program defects. To fix the defective device independently is impossible, it can be made, having sent the device to the official service center. Those who have not purchased the device yet, should be careful, as mainly phones from the batch in which is possible this defect are now presented in the market. Check up the speech quality during talking before buying phone.
Among the other innovations it is necessary to note the presence of velvet rag in standard kit for rubbing the phone's screen. Subjectively the loudness of speaker is increased in the last models, the phone is better audible. The screen's behaviour the sun is still not so good, it becomes blind. Nevertheless, Sony Ericsson T610 is the best device in the class by the current moment.

The article seems to be from 20 May, so my guess is that we probably won't see this in reality... A pitty of course, but I'm not too bothered with the 2MB limit that it is today...
But I do also remember when PalmV only had 2MB memory, and it worked great, and I never needed any more memory... Now you can't get hold of a handheld with less than 32MB internal memory and you can get up to 1GB extra storage... So I guess we'll see mobiles soon with more capacity, but I really doubt you would need that much in a T610... If it had built in MP3 player or a higher resolution camera, then it would probably need more, but not for the specs it's got!
Can't wait until I (hopefully) get it soon!
