Its a power saving feature of the phone. I did not mind it on the T68i because you could see the clock but on the T610 it pisses me off u can't see it. Why have a clock on there, if u can't see it ?

You can see it if you just press the upper volume button (the one beneath the camera button). This will turn on the backlight for a few seconds only.
