Does anyone have cell info display working using Telstra in Australia. I bought my p800 from Sony rather than from one of the telcos so I am not sure if I have set it up OK. One thing it doesn't do is display cell name.

I liked this on my previous mobile, handy to remind me what suburb I am in when I wake up in the morning

I'm with Optus, and it works just fine. I'm sure Telstra would have it. Check page 153 of the User Guide to set it up properly. Only disadvantage (with Optus anyway) is that the cell display info replaces the date information.Maybe you don't need to know which day you are waking up

I'm with Telstra too, and I couldn't work out why it was't working even when I had Cell Information enabled. I rang Telstra and they said to ring . Although it seems really wierd, the advice the guy gave me worked. Delete all the Area Information channels from the Area tab in Messaging Accounts in the Control Panel. Then add a new channel number "050" (it will show as just 50). Then enable Cell Information and it should be there. I only use my P800 without the flip now, so I actually dont see it. It would be good if Tracker could incorporate it into the desk somewhere- maybe make the clock smaller and put it under that.

Anyway, I hope this helps.

I got my P800 firmware upgraded (to R2F) free at Accord in Spencer Street Melbourne last week. It's a 24 hour turnaround, but because I was "from the sticks" they kindly did it in a few hours. FWIW, the upgrade (from R1D) was well worth it - phone is much much more stable and works quicker overall, camera options improved (night shot and full screen) and shots better quality, fullscreen video player and browsing,SMS delivery report, audio player with flip closed, etc, etc.. Beware though - make a backup of info - everything is wiped, including GPRS settings.Stuff on Duo is safe.

I dont understand why there are so many places around the world that take so many hours or days to do the upgrade. As with my 4 T68m(i) upgrades, Alltech Industries in Adelaide only took an hour or so to do my R2F P800 upgrade.

Thanks Bogus Jimmy, works fine now.

I use mine without the flip, but use the virtual flip to lock it. What is the lock like on Tracker? There is a lock on HandyDay but does not disable the back light and key click on the screen when active. So not very useful.

The Tracker lock is the same, I keep telling Symbianware that diabling the touchscreen while locked (so that it can only be unlocked using buttons, and wont click and use up battery in your pocket) is VERY important, but they didnt put it in Tracker 2.0. Now that I'm a paying customers of theirs, I feel I have the right to keep pestering them until they give me the features I (and everyone needs) If they could fix the lock problem, I would have absolutely no need for the Virtual Flip, and I think I would disable it.

Its good that you've got Cell Info workin, but it's a wierd solution don't u think?
