> How to get P800 "flashed"
Bookmark topic
Guys,
I'm based in London (Bromley) and work in Richmond. I need somewhere I can get the phone flashed to the latest version (R2C/D/?)
Where can I get this done? More than happy to do myself if available on web anywhere but it sounds like I need a store to do it for me.... but which one????
Thanks in adv...

Call SE and ask if there is a store close to you. Latest software is R2F and no you can't upgrade it yourself. You need and Emma II for this and only certified techs are allowed to upgrade it. Otherwise you'd loose your warranty if you somehow managed to do it yourself.

May sound a stupid question, but what is "Flashed?!?"
Isn't it something to do with the video playback?

You have to "flash" a ROM since it's read only memory. It's a pure update. Nothing to do with video playback. Atleast not now.
You can also use a PROM to burn the update into the chip. Not sure if the Emma II is a PROM though.

Not Dubbs as TVRCity perchance?
As I'm sure you have read, upgrades can only be done via and SE service place, however some CPW can do it, give your local branch a call.

If you have not already found out I reckon your nearest place is :
Fleet Mobile Communications
77 Avery Hill Rd
New Eltham
London
SE9 2BJ
Tel +44 2082942000
They are very efficient and did mine while I waited (40 mins). You can park around the shop too. You may be asked for your proof of purchase so I should take your receipt.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Bob, I play squash just round the corner to them (Sparrows Lane) so I'll try and pop in this Saturday.
Do I lose all contacts, dates and installed programs? Presume I do.

Ugh...I found the number (it's 866 837 7290). I called them, and found out that in the US, our only option is to send the phone to Wisconson and that takes "up to 10 to 15 business days". Hello?! I am not at all interested in living without my phone for three weeks to get it upgraded. This is extremely lame on SE USA's part.
