Hi all,

I can't find a thread specifically about this, and maybe the authors will take note if someone starts one. I've not got V2.0 yet so some of these may have been addressed?

Multiple App closing - perhaps we could specify what we want left open and this would kill the rest - a product called SMan does this apparently

A "Taskbar" icon to switch back to desk view - if at all possible, would be nice (although you can replace one of the six main shortcuts with Tracker)

SMS! When I get a text and the screen lock is on - nothing (apart from the sound) happens. I get no visual notification, and when I unlock the screen there's still nothing to tell me I've got a text!

Any more? These are my main gripes, and I've not tried handy day yet - SMan looks interesting - although it can't do all that tracker can, there's a "bluejack" menu!

Just been checking out SMan - the bluejack feature is FANTASTIC!!!

It does a proximity sweep for all BT devices, and then sends a pre-specified message as a VCF to them!

You can have it keep trying, so you could just be walking down the street, phone in pocket, bluejacking everyone on the way!!!

Funny! - but not something I'd be needing in tracker methinks.

OK,

lets compare Tracker with Handy Day and Active Desk, and take out the best from all others.

ad 0: A bit more speed.

ad 1: Direct Access to IR / BT, as in Handy Day.

ad 2: Customizable Views, as in Active Desk. Then you can have it as you like it.

ad 3: Flexible Separation of Tasks, Calendar Entries etc. - why should I see wasted empty lines when my task list could fit in easily? Again, realized way better in Active Desk (try out yourself, you just define the max. linesize).

ad 4: "fix the applist" tool, as available in SMan. (I need it every 5th application installation - thanks god, SMan is there!)

ad 5: Resource Bars (memory), as in Handy Day.

ad 6: Zoom available to smaller fonts.

would be a good start...

My $0.01

After having purchased new Tracker (and forgoeing Handyday) I'm a bit dissapointed by the Today feature in Tracker. Overall, Tracker gives more for a better price (for those of us who pay:)) But the Today feature leaves more than a little to be desired. There's a problem with the Message part not getting updated even when there are new messages and, for me, the 'loading' delay is a joke and the overall layout just looks unpolished - kinda amature. Also, you can't just pop to an app - try clicking around on Calendar entries in the Today screen - you can't just go to Calendar, have to switch to Desktop and then Calendar. The only thing you can do from Today screen is open a preexisting entry or make a new entry. When you need to just get to Calendar, you should be able to click somewhere just to just get to the current day.

The HandyDay layout, memory bars, speed and good integration with p800 native apps are very polished.. You see the Calendar or Message section and you click on the icon and you go to that app.. intuitive. If you rely heavily on Today screens on your PDA I recommend sticking with HandyDay until Tracker gets a v 2.1 out.

But hell guess you can't have everyting...

As I've been saying in several forums; The screen lock in Tracker sucks! Well at least it has a screen lock, SE should have included that in the system.

The problem with the screen-lock is that I can't see the time or the today view. I want a lock that just locks the screen so that I can put the phone in my pocket without accidently calling someone. The screen lock in HandyDay is almost there.

Another suggestion:
I wish I could select an application from the tracker desk with the scroll weel. That would make it possible to start applications without using the styleus.

Yet another suggestion:
I really love the feature that lets me configure the different P800 buttons. Makes it easier to do things when I'm on the run. The problem is that there are not enough buttons. A solution to this would be to start and control applications with double clicks and long clicks. Ex: Lock the device by double clicking on the blue button. Go to today view by pressing the blue button for more than 3 seconds.
Maybe combinations of different buttons would work...

I must be missing something. What's wrong with pressing the menu button and selecting Key Lock? That will prevent undesired dialing.

@nautilus:

It's not about locking, but usability during locking. see the time, or see a pic. which is more convenient?

@palle:

Agreed with more jog-dial implementation. That wheel is quite often not used for assignment to functions. Did you guys know it is called "5-dimensional"? not only turning up and down, but also pushing in, and also pushing upwards and downwards (towards the upside/downside).

Tracker allows (allowed?) to use the jog-dial push up to be assigned to a function which is nice to re-launch the app. Then double- and long-click is not necessary.
