what about this idea:
why not use a ordinary infrared remote control for tv, that often features a control - cross, as a gamepad for the p800 ? the only difficult thing would be the infraredport-programming for the p800. and once this is done the porters/programmers of the games would need to adapt their programs to use the interfacelib some clever guy eventually will write for the ir-"gamepad" ...

please, any programmer out there posts here if it is possible in some way.

I would think the problem with this is that you can only send one IR string at once so if you want to go left and fire at the same time. I think a control pad similar to the clie's add-on one would be a better idea.

really ? sad thing :-/ but even with only one key pressable a time it would be better than nothing ! the problem is that i contacted 3 companys that once made gamepads for palm-pda's and wince thingies, but none of them had plans to make an p800 gamepad.
and the infrared - port seemed to me the most easiest accessible port.

I would have thought the accessory port at the bottom of the P800 would have been the best port for a pad.

There's no reason why a chatboard style unit couldn't be designed.

This is probably a daft idea, but what about bluetooth as a communication mechanism between gamepad and phone?

Hmm, to make things a bit easier, how does some kinda of mercury switch (i dunno the real name of them) to control something simple like left and right. All you would have todo is rotate to the left or right, and then u can have an on screen or button interface for shooting ect? then it could be a small plugin on the bottom of the pda/p800 and make games a bit easier

because bluetooth is not licence free. devices using bluetooth are still quite expensive!
and as far as is know there is no bluetooth gamepad out there. and probably the interface driver is more complicated to program for bluetooth !?!?

I liked your idea herc. Just one thing. It's a bit unpractical to bring a remote with you in case you want to play on the run. The phone alone isn's exactly tiny or light.. The cooler thing would be voice recognition thru a handsfree, bt or regular, or even the handset itself. You could just say \"left\" or \"forward\" or hatever command to compensate for the missing button... IF that was possible of course. A tiny joypad \"sticking\" to the phones buttom would also be cool :) This message was posted from a P800
