panasonic are bring out a follow up to the gd 87
looks like it might be a bit of comp for the t610.
not sure about the color like and i am sure most people who want a t610 will have one.

It does everything that the T610 does, (the X70 that is), but having used its predecessor I think I prefer the candybar form factor.

agreed not a fan of the clam shape myself but had not heard anything about it till i looked at the coming soon section
yes it does do everything the t610 does hence the fact i suggest it may be some competion for it.
it has 4mb of memory panasonic must have read that dodge review of the t610 claim a memory upgrade

There we go...

It seems to have pretty much the same features as the T610, save the following:

-light assist for the camera
-4mb internal memory

Like you, I prefer the design of the T610, and have never been a fan of seafood -- or at least clamshells. I guess it'll be an asthetic thing for most people.

yes, it does, but it really doesn't work that well. It's possible to change the contrast by pressing up and down on the joystick, but the night function is pretty much useless. This new panasonic, apparently, has a light that will help brighten subjects, similar to a torch(?). Not sure how well it'll work though...
