> No luck with T300 and data cable
Bookmark topic
I bought a generic data cable which claims to be a 'Prolific USB to Serial' device. Sure enough the prolific website has the correct chipset driver for the device (PL-2303) and away I go.
After installing the SE phone monitor and trying the various tips and tricks to get it working I'm left with the phone not being detected.
I've played with the COM ports and reserved them, disabled onboard ones and used them, all to no avail.
When I plug the cable to the phone, nothing happens, so is it likely I have a dodgy cable or am I missing something?
Any suggestions or tests I can make will be incredibly helpful.

I read in another thread that you need to set the com port speed to 9600 baud. Dont know anything else though because I dont use cables.

Phil.

I can verify that the baud is still on the default of 9600.
Ok, If I can't get this working, and am forced to bite the bullet, can anyone recommend the MA-620 USB to Ir device?
I've seen it about, but would like to know if it's going to work better than this cable....

I am using the mobile phone monitor program downloaded from the sony ericsson website.
There was an apparent 'trick' to make the phone get picked up by the software by installing an outlook syncronisation tool, but to no avail.

Thanks for all the replies. Unfortunately it's still not working. SendFile just complains that there's no connection to the phone.
Is there any way I can check the cable?
Edit: I read that the phone should charge from the cable, but it doesn't beep or initiate charging when I plug the cable in.

The t300 was not intended as a data-transfering phone. I think its the phone's soft.

Nohoooo!!! I used it with dial up too! Now that I switched to DSL I can't get it to work anymore AT ALL. uninstalled and re-installed MPM and sendfile, no avail. It never connects to the phone. I am completely stumped
