Here's the response I got from SE support about the various bluetooth connectivity problems I'm having with the P800. Part of it reads to me as "We aint gonna fix it".
Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Customer Care Center.
We need to take these issues one by one.
1. The P800 does not work with the BMW in-car bluetooth system. This
utilises the Handsfree BT profile which the P800 does not support. This
does work with T68i and may work with future smartphone products.
2. Please describe the steps that you perform when trying to connect
the IBM laptop to the P800. What type of connection are you trying to
establish and where does this fail? Is this to perform synchronisation
or just a file transfer?
3. What problems do you have communicating with other Bluetooth phones?
Please descibe what you are trying to achieve and where things go
wrong.
In general, the Bluetooth software of the P800 should be CXC12529 R5A
or better.
Best regards,

The Bluetooth definately ain't right SE!! Might mate, who has recently updated to R2F still has problems connecting to devices. I think they need to re-write it for the next release - and include any missing protocols.
