its difficult to say that how many number can be stored in the contacts ..but i have bout 500 numbers ... i think it depends upon the storage capacity of the phone , u can check while sync all contacts with ur outlook express.

@D_G
From what I know, there is no way to see how many numbers and contacts you have in the phone.
@P-800er
I think the limit is 2000 contacts.
@wahid
That did not answer the question.
Just called SE, the limit is 1000 contacts. And yes you can have more, some people have been known to have 2500 contacts etc. But they say that 1000 is the tested limit.
And I was right, there is no way to check how many numbers and contacts you have in the phone. Though when you synch with outlook you can see how many contacts you have. Uhm.. think that was all.

To know how many contacts there are on the phone (and other usefull info) you can use ContactsControl v2.0 (i think it's the latest version).
It has several language translations.
I myself helped the guy translating it to Portuguese.
just try this:

Looks great to me. I will try it at once!!
Wish this was possible without a third party app though.
Using it now and I already love it.
