hello all i sent this e-mail to SE.....
hello i want to start by saying the P800 is a great phone, but i am not
happy about the fact there us no video recording facility on the P800, i mean
look at the nokia 3650 or the up coming Nokia 6600 which has Digital camera with
zoom & Video recorder & player (just to name a few) u say u didn?t include or
make this software because u think its illegal, well why have nokia included these facilities, pls create an application that will do the zoom & Video recording, otherwaise I am sorry to say I will have to switch to the Nokia 6600, I await ur repliy.
and the repliy from SE was......................................
Regarding your enquiry, I agree the P800 is a wonderful handset but there was never any indication that the handset would support this facility in the future or after it's release. Therefore Iregret to inform you that if you require this facility you will need to purchase a handset that will.
so wat SE r saying is there was never any indication that the handset
would support this facility in the future or after it's release, does this mean there will never be Video recording for the P800????????????????

No, it just means that

wont make a video recorder. This doesnt mean that someone else cant or will not make it!
BTW do a search.

you do need to understand something though. if camcorder did come out for the p800 it wouldnt be that great. 2 reasons-
-optical zoom would be impossibly. digital zoom would look crap.
-secondly you wouldnt be able to record much. it would have to record to ram and them be moved to your duo.
im not just guessing here. it can be proven by looking at the recorder for the nr-70v, which had an identical processor to the p800.
check
http://www.clievideo.com
this would mean the most you could realistically record would be 7-10 megs?
who knows. but sony support is rubbish.

They wouldnt have DUOs as they are a Sony made Mem Stick. Do Nokias have external Mem Stick slots? Cus thats not much Video you can store anyway.

hey everyone.
I don't mean to be rude, but can we please put this issue to rest once and for all.
Firstly. SE will probably never release a video cam app for the P800, stop asking them to alright.
Secondly, There are 3rd parties working on such an app for the P800, so IT IS COMING, JUST BE PATIENT. It won't have great quality, but it's a phone so it's cool. We just want it to be able to capture a moment and MMS or E-mail the clip to someone.
In conclusion ESATO members, video app is coming, lets just wait a little. I mean 7650's video app didn't come over night either.

Nokia 3650 uses a MMC Card (looks very much like the Duo), but has (if i remember) 3.5 meg Internal ram.
It can only record a maximum of about 10-15 seconds (seemed to changed).
And FYI it is CRAP.
