Hi,

I wanted to check if anyone was successful in deleteing/getting rid of the Vodafone Live! crap from the t610.

I am currently in Italy on vacation, and the t610 would cost 379 EUR with the vodafone crap. The phone is not locked, so I am temptated in buying one right away.

The only thing that bothers me is that Live-crap..

Last week I bought a "live" one in Greece at that price. Two days later I took it to an official SE center and I kindly asked that they flashed it because it "occasionally froze with mms". They flashed it with non-live firmware as there was only one version available. The only "remnant" of the "live"version is that no matter what wap settings you put, the initial page is Vodafone-Live but it only takes an extra second to get to your provider's homepage, or to your bookmarks. After the flashing I did a major reset and ended-up with about 1650 KB of memory.

Buy it and go to a service center in Italy and try to get it flashed. Otherwise, you can continue your vacation across the sea, in Greece!!!

haki, my T610 is not branded but I read in a few threads here on Esato that if you create a new wap profile you should be able to have whatever homepage you want.

Yes, I agree with Masseur as far as the wap settings are concerned. I have a Voda brandded'n customized T610, and I find no difficulty to change the settings. If I remember well, once you are on a wap site, you can decide to have it as your home page in the right menu.

Haki, please do not leave us in the blue:

WERE YOU ABLE TO GET RID OF THE VODA SETTINGS (DESKTOP ICONS IN GREY, RED AND BLUE, LIVE SHORTCUT ON THE MAIN PAGE, LIMITED SHORTCUTS IN THE MY THEMES, MY TONES, ETC) BY HAVING IT FLASHED?????????

this would be great news

Haki: did you get rid of those Voda menus etc. or not? And then a question to all you Italians who live near Rimini or Ravenna: Is there a :SE: service point in this area? This message was posted from a T68i

Yes, I got rid of ALMOST all of the "LIVE" crap! All my icons are regular T610 icons and the LIVE shortcut of the right soft key is gone and it now says "extras". BUT, the middle (regular) icon on the top menu row is labeled "Vodafone Favorites" and the left icon on the top menu row is labeled "Vodafone live". By selecting any of these two, it tries to access the Vodafone pages REGARDLESS of the fact that one has input the settings of his own provider. That is because the page associated with these keys is http://www.live.vodafone.com and CANNOT be changed. Naturally, you are denied access to this page because only Voda can take you there. All you have to do, after you select either of the two menus, is to immediately press the right soft key which gives you the choice of accessing your provider's homepage or any of your bookmarks. Same is the case when you try to use the More Icons, More Tones and More Themes features where again you have to do a double press to get where you want. There is nothing one can do to remove this small "reminder" of the Vodafone branding but thankfully it is only a very minor and non-irritating one. Believe me guys, I am a hell of an experienced user (such moderacy!!!) and I know what I am talking about so you should trust me!

In a few words, after a flashing, a LIVE T610 becomes 95% non-LIVE.

There was a post made on the SEMUSER forums on this, stating that it is now fully possible to remove the Voda branding:
